SCOTT SALTER

Age – 53

Position – CDS Support Worker

Time in role – 9 years with CDS and 15 in the industry

What do you like the most about CDS and your role? Working with clients and imparting 15 years of experience and knowledge into that. I also like championing the cause of my clients and thinking outside the box to come up with solutions.

Why are you working in this industry? I was in mining but needed a new direction. The turning point came when my mother was dying of cancer and she said I was “born to do this type of work”. Since then I haven’t looked back. It feels like it is my calling.

What is the greatest myth in this industry? More so than a myth – just don’t promise what you can’t deliver to clients and families. They are people too so listen to them and their needs and treat them with respect.

If you weren’t in this industry what would you be doing? I would be a card dealer at a casino. I am a good listener so I think I would be good at that role.

If you were CEO for a day what would you change? More inclusive environment and making families a bigger part of the CDS family.
