STAFF PROFILE

DAVID PARKER, 56, CDS CEO

Time in role – Over 20 years

What do you like the most about CDS and your role? CDS has given individuals with a disability the opportunity tom work, be within the community and have a say, not just a title. I guess you could say my role is to be there and offer assistance and guidance for those that need it and also assist in the long term future of CDS.

Why are you working in this industry? I had the opportunity to teach a young girl with cerebral palsy how to swim at a young age and I found it very enjoyable to see the smile it put on her face and to be confident in the things she did and the rest is history.

If you weren’t in this industry what would you be doing? Working in some aged care industry, helping those in need and have a voice for them.

What was the best advice you were ever given? The best advice I was given was to be yourself and not to try and impress to be accepted. If people can’t accept you for who you are then you don’t need them.
