The Buddy Bench initiative was designed to ensure that any child any time would have a buddy whenever they sat on the bench. The initiative was not only designed for kids who were bullied but also children who were new to school and didn’t know anyone. It is a popular paradigm that has taken off in one way or another across the globe.

Recently, CDS board member and CASNG facilitator Angela Wilson, was invited to Forbes North Public School by school staff and Forbes Shire Council member Michelle Herbert to have official photos with their new ‘buddy bench’ which was donated by Millcon Engineering Group, John Holland and the Currajong Autism & Special Needs Group.

To cap a great day, Mrs. Wilson was then asked to stay and speak at their assembly as well.

“Forbes North was a lovely welcoming school who were very grateful for the donation of the buddy bench,” said Angela Wilson.

“The students said that they used it all the time.

“It was fabulous to see a school embracing this concept,” she said.
