STAFF PROFILE

DEITRE JACKSON, 21 forever, CDS Support Worker

Time in role – Nearly 6 years with CDS and 12 years in the industry

What do you like the most about CDS and your role? Making sure the clients are treated well and equally. After all we are all human. I also like helping them achieve their goals.

Why are you working in this industry? I nursed my husband through Alzheimer’s and my daughter through cancer and I thought I had more to give so now I am working in this industry.

What is the greatest myth in this industry? Just because you have a disability doesn’t mean you can’t do things. Some clients can do many things that the average person can’t in my experience.

If you weren’t in this industry what would you be doing? Aged care because I still have a desire to do care work and care for people.

If you were CEO for a day what would you change? I would encourage local business houses within the community to take a chance on our clients by employing them. We have some amazing people here at CDS and all they need is a chance.
