Position – Disability Support Worker

Time in role – Second week and I am really enjoying it!

What do you like most about your role and CDS? The clients are great and I like the fact every day is different.

Why are you working in this industry? I’m passionate about helping people.

If you weren’t in this industry what would you be doing? Aged Care. I always knew I would be a carer in either aged care or disability care.

What is the greatest myth in this industry? That all people with disabilities can’t work or communicate. That is simply untrue. You just need to observe and listen. In fact many people with disabilities not only have a number of skills but they also can communicate in more ways than other people who do not identify as having a disability.

If you were CEO for a day what would you change first? I haven’t been here long so it really isn’t my place to say but ideally one day it would be great to have bigger facilities as we continue to grow.
