KITCHEN ESSENTIALS AT TAFE WESTERN TODAY

IT wasn’t MasterChef but it was fun! Eight CDS clients today began the new TAFE Western SOA in Kitchen Essentials course and from all reports the course was popular.

The course, which teaches hygienic practices for food safety, clean kitchen premises and equipment, prepare and produce simple dishes as well prepare and present sandwiches runs for six weeks.

“Everyone had fun the first day and enjoyed this course,” said Indigo Kriedemann, Team Leader Direct Care.

“Many have shown really good skills in hospitality and we have no doubt others will sign up as soon as the next course if offered.

“TAFE Western and Parkes College especially are to be commended for courses such as this that help give students the right skills and also necessary qualifications to progress such a career.”

For students Jye Jeffery and Tara Dennis the first day of the course was extremely enjoyable and exciting with prepared food brought back to share with CDS staff and other clients.

Classes run from 9:30am to 1:30pm each Friday and the course is fully subsidised for eligible students.
